Growing up in a small town in Northern Ontario taught me the values of hard work, integrity, commitment, and earning opportunities through perseverance. These are the principles that have guided my career for more than 30 years.
Throughout my career in financial services, consulting, healthcare, education, and mergers and acquisitions, I have had the privilege of helping business owners and families navigate some of the most significant decisions of their lives. My experience has taught me that successful outcomes require more than technical expertise. They require listening, collaboration, and trusted relationships.
Working in the M&A industry gave me the opportunity to help several Canadian business-owning families prepare for and transition through the sale of their companies. These transactions often involved complex financial, tax, legal, and family considerations, and I worked closely alongside their accountants, lawyers, and other trusted advisors to help ensure every aspect of the transition supported the family’s long-term objectives.
When I met Doug and Jordan at Leyland & Matters, I immediately recognized that their client-family-focused approach to preserving family wealth, values, and legacy complemented the work I had been doing for business owners. It was a natural fit.
