Every engagement starts with a deep dive into what you own, what you owe, and what you want your wealth to do. The instrument earns its place at the end, never the beginning.
We are Chartered Accountants by training, with a deep working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and how it will affect your family and your estate. We do not prepare tax returns or provide formal tax advice. We work alongside your trusted advisors, so every solution is checked against your broader tax, wealth, and estate picture.
We have access to all major Canadian life insurance companies, so the recommendation fits you, not the interest of shareholders. We canvass the top carriers in the country and let them compete for your file.
We are a smaller shop than the publicly traded institutions and the national groups, and that is deliberate. Files move quickly, you deal directly with the principals, and the contracts themselves are placed with the top carriers in the country. Nimble where it serves you, institutional where it counts.
02 How we work with your advisors
Significant wealth generally comes with a strong advisory team: an accountant, a lawyer, a portfolio manager, a private banker. We do not replace them. We work collaboratively with your entire advisory team to make sure the plan put in place is a strong fit for your overall tax, wealth, and estate plan. If there is an expertise you need but do not currently have an advisor for, we can connect you with professionals we trust in our network.
That is also why CPAs, estate lawyers, and wealth managers refer their high-value clients to us. We work in confidence, beside the client's existing advisors, never around them.
03 The principals
Doug came to believe that when a financial institution both manufactures financial products and sells advice about those products, there can be a conflict of interest. So in 2000 he left and founded his own independent firms, yourCFO Advisory Group and yourCFO Insurance Solutions.
In 2013 he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his children. The guides kept saying pole pole. Slowly, slowly. He believes the best financial decisions are made the same way.
Jordan is the Treasurer of Shifra Homes and a member of the Estate Planners’ Council of Halton. Clients get a tax mind, a steady manner, and answers in plain English.
